The historic Henefer Bridge has received a new lease on life.

The Utah Department of Transportation has awarded the bridge to Steve and Connie Ault, who plan to move the bridge to their Bear Canyon ranch.UDOT offered the bridge to the public free of charge in May 1988. After hearing several proposals from would-be owners, a committee of UDOT and State Historical Society officials awarded the bridge to the Aults.

"It (Henefer Bridge) is a beautiful glove that fit the right hand," said Steve Ault.

Ault must meet many environmental concerns before moving the bridge. The committee also is requiring Ault to disassemble the bridge and move it, rather than cut it into sections.

The Aults hope the bridge will become part of a proposed national trail through Provo Canyon.
