The state's urban and rural marketing departments have won awards from the American Economic Development Council for advertising and promotional campaigns.

The state agencies, which operate in the Division of Business and Economic Development, were honored at the AEDC's 33rd annual Promotional Material Awards Competition.The state's rural marketing won a best of class award for its direct mail campaign, "Utah, where small cities are appealing."

Urban marketing received two superior ratings. One in the special section advertising campaign category for an insert in the June 1987 Inc. magazine, focusing on Utah's business climate, and another for its proposal to US WEST to locate a research facility in Salt Lake City.
