FDA CITES ERRORS IN BLOOD TESTING BY RED CROSS

The government has criticized the Red Cross for procedural and administrative errors in certain AIDS and hepatitis tests, and five donors and the recipients of their blood are being monitored, officials said.

Most of the citations by the Food and Drug Administration against the American Red Cross Missouri-Illinois Blood Services Region refer to faults detected in some testing procedures conducted from Jaunuary 1987 until January 1988.
