Salt Lake neighborhoods can apply for grants of up to $1,800 under the new Neighborhood Self-Help Program made up of $25,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds, Mayor Palmer DePaulis said.
The program, part of DePaulis' Salt Lake City Tomorrow Program, requires that neighborhoods provide a 20 percent cash match or in-kind contributions from individuals or businesses, DePaulis said in a press release.Neighborhoods can use the money for projects such as planting trees and flowers, clean-up projects, neighborhood fairs, newsletters, tool lending libraries and home repair training programs.
"Our neighborhoods are the lifeblood of our community. It is essential that we continue to find ways to help our citizens enhance the areas in which they live," DePaulis said.
Applications can be obtained in the Community Affairs Office in City Hall at 324 S. State Street or the Salt Lake Arts Council at 54 Finch Lane. For more information call 535-7915.
