The 158th Semiannual General Conference of the church will be held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1 and 2, in the Tabernacle on Temple Square.
President Ezra Taft Benson will preside over the conference, assisted by his counselors, President Gordon B. Hinkley and President Thomas S. Monson. In addition to the First Presidency, the conference will be addressed by members of the council of the Twelve and other General Authorities.General sessions are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on both days of the conference. Also, there will be a general priesthood session Saturday at 6 p.m. All times are Mountain Daylight.
Thousands of church leaders and members are expected to fill the Tabernacle for the two days of meetings, and hundreds of thousands more will view the conference sessions live on local television and over the church's satellite network, which reaches more then 2,000 meetinghouses in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
The conference will be telecast over the Westar IV stellite in 12 languages; English, spanish, French, German, Tongan, Samoan, Portuguese, Laotian, Cambodian, Hmong, Vietnamese and Korean.
The Laotian, Cambodian, Hmong and Vietnamese languages will be transmitted only for the priesthood session and Sunday's sessions. The other languages will be tranmitted for all sessions.
