A new stake was created in Augusa, Ga., by Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Council of the Twelve, in a division of the West Columbia South Carolina Stake. At the same time, some of the units in the West Clumbia Stake were also placed in the Columbia South Carolina Stake, for which a new stake president was called.

The new Augusta Georgia Stake has 2,231 members.In addition to the Columbia South Carlina Stake, stake presidencies were reorganized in Kearns, Utah; and Lake Oswego, Ore.

AUGUSTA GEORGIA STAKE: (Aug. 21, 1988) Created from a division of the West Columbia South Carolina Stake. President Stephen David Posey, 40, mortuary owner, former high councilor president, bishop's counselor, and branch president, married Nancy Marie Ledbetter, three children. Counselors - John Marshall Chambers, 58, director of information systems management at Medical College of Georgia, former hugh councilor, stake executive secretary, bishop and counselor, married Mignon Beatrice Shell, two children; Garn Stafford Capps, 49, acount executive for computer company, former bishop, branch president, elders quorum president, and ward chorister, married Patsy Hodge, two children.

COLUMBIA SOUTH CAROLINA STAKE: (Aug. 21, 1988) President - Val L. Clarke, 41, Church Educational System employee, former stake president, bishop, ward Young Men president, and ward mission leader, married LaJean Ricks, none children. Counselors - Heber Samuel Branham, retained; timothy Cooper Ross, retained.

LAKE OWEGO OREGON STAKE: (Aug. 21, 1988) President - Deatn W. Croft, 42, board chairman and chief executive officer of corporation, former high councilor, stake Young Men president, bishop's counselor, and high priests group leader, married Julia Dee Reaves, four children. Cousnelors - Lloyd D. Hale, 43, surgeion, former high councilor, bishop, and ward Young Men president, married Sandra Murray, five children; Kent emil Koski, 44, vice president of dredit corporation, former high councilor, bishop and counselor, married Mary Anne Clark, eight children.
