Former Kansas City Chiefs coach Hank Stram will be hospitalized eight to 10 days after undergoing open heart surgery, doctors at Methodist Hospital say.
Stram, who coached the Chiefs to three American Football League championships and a Super Bowl victory, was listed in stable condition Tuesday after the four-hour operation.Doctors at Methodist replaced Stram's aortic valve Tuesday morning with an artificial one during surgery performed by Dr. Harold Halbrook, said hospital spokesman Jon White.
