The Connecticut State Police Union has agreed to pay for damages to six state vehicles allegedly caused by troopers as they scrambled to witness a wet T-shirt contest at a police picnic.

The damage is said to have occurred when off-duty police officers rushed to reach vantage points after a challenge had been announced to the picnickers, particularly female officers, to enter a wet T-shirt contest.A state police spokesman said Friday an investigation was being conducted into reports that the viewers climbed onto tables, a park pavilion and six parked state vans and cars used by off-duty officers.

The circumstances, whether such a contest was actually held and whether woman troopers or others were involved, were under investigation, State Police Sgt. Scott O'Mara said.
