A Salt Lake man pleaded guilty Friday to vehicle homicide in connection with the April 14 traffic death of a friend.

Michael O. Seiber, 36, entered his plea before 3rd District Judge Richard Moffat, who scheduled sentencing for Oct. 21. In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors reduced the charge from a second-degree felony to a third-degree felony and dropped two related misdemeanor charges.Seiber admitted being intoxicated while driving the car that crashed into another car at 400 E. Third South and later struck a bus at 300 E. Eighth South.

A.V. Jones, Seiber's passenger, was severely injured in the second crash and died a short time after.

Laboratory tests revealed that Seiber's blood was 0.27 percent alcohol, more than three times Utah's legal limit of 0.08 percent.
