Kristie Phillips, second alternate on the 1988 U.S. Olympic team, lost an appeal and won't travel to Seoul as an official team member. The decision was made public Thursday at Bela Karolyi's gym where the Olympic team is training before the Olympic team's evening training session at Bela Karolyi's gym. Neither Phillips nor Karolyi could be reached for comment. Olympic rules calling for a seven-member team and one alternate were upheld.
