Salt Lake-based Four Nines Gold Inc. has been awarded a $1.19 million contract to construct four miles of pipeline, 0.6 miles of gravel road, related reinforced concrete structures and remove existing concrete structures near Newell, S.D., for the Bureau of Reclamation.

Bill DeLapp, company executive vice president, said the bid submitted by his company was below the BOR's $1,302,280 estimate. The work must be completed by May 10, 1989. The work is part of the rehabilitation program on the Belle Fouche Irrigation Project authorized by Congress in November 1983.In the same announcement, company president Richard Kopp said Four Nines has acquired more than 600 unpatented lode mining claims about 20 miles north of Wells, Nev., on property he believes has potential for gold exploration. In addition, Four Nines owns unpatented lode mining claims, 7,600 acres of leased land and an option on a small gold mine.

Kopp said these properties are in the Sierra Mining District of northeast Pershing County, about 20 miles southwest of Winnemucca, Nev.
