The Sevier County Commission will consider protests regarding a proposed countywide special service district at a public hearing at 2 p.m. Jan. 3 in the courthouse.
Commission Chairman T. Merlin Ashman said written protests may be filed with the county clerk prior to the hearing. Oral comments will be received at the hearing."Any protest signed on behalf of a corporation owning property in the district shall be sufficient if it is signed by the president, vice president, or any duly authorized agent of the corporation," he said.
The commission will either adopt a resolution establishing the district or abandon the effort following the hearing.
Ashman said the district is needed to acquire funds to construct, repair and maintain roads.
