North Dakota should recognize the honeybee because the "little critter" does so much for the economy, says a senator pushing a bill to make the striped stinger the state's official insect.

Sen. Corliss Mushik said she would sponsor the legislation during 1989 on behalf of the North Dakota Beekeepers Association. The Legislature convenes Wednesday.
