A Trident 2 submarine missile hurled a dummy warhead to an Atlantic Ocean target, its 14th success in 18 test launchings, the Navy says.

One or two more land pad tests are planned before the Navy begins test firings from a submerged submarine.The $23.7 million missile roared off a land launching pad Monday.

The 44-foot missile, the Navy's most powerful, has a range of nearly 6,000 miles. Officials declined to disclose how far the dummy warhead traveled.
