The Utah County Commission has recommended three names to Gov. Norm Bangerter as candidates for appointment to the Central Utah Water Conservancy District.
Bangerter will choose one of the three - former American Fork Planning Commissioner Tony Schofield, former Orem City Councilman Harley Gillman or Alpine Mayor Ronald Rasmussen - to replace Ben Shippen, whose three-year term expires this month."We felt it was time for a change," Commissioner Malcolm Beck said of the commission's decision not to reappoint Shippen.
Beck said each of the three men considered for the board has been active in civic and public service. "They're all well qualified and very active in whatever they're working on," he said.
The new appointee will join Delora Bertleson and Merrill Bushnell in representing the county on the board.
