Suppliers who sell diesel fuel to farmers may no longer collect a diesel fuel tax, according to Utah Farm Bureau officials.
C. Booth Wallentine, executive vice president of the UFB, said some fuel distributors are telling farmers they must pay the tax in 1989, but the 15-cent per gallon tax was repealed effective Dec. 31, 1988.Wallentine said farmers and ranchers who paid the tax in 1988 can get refunds with interest or credits against future taxes due.
"Farmers have until July 31, 1989, to claim their refunds or credits and can use forms that are available from the Utah Farm Bureau, 5300 S. 360 West, Salt Lake City," he said.
