A West Valley man who beat a teenager to death while intoxicated, but who has shown little progress with his substance-abuse problems while in prison, has been denied parole by the Utah Board of Pardons.
Terry Lee Ferguson, 34, is serving 1-15 years for manslaughter. He will not appear before the board again until January 1992.Ferguson, a convicted burglar, was a halfway house inmate on a weekend release when 17-year-old Dean A. Ferree was killed on May 23, 1982.
The youth was beaten to death with a 3-foot-long metal bar, court records said. His body was found near his car by a Salt Lake County deputy sheriff.
Ferguson was discovered several blocks away, sitting in a car and wearing blood-soaked clothing.
