City officials were offering a $30,000 reward Monday for information leading to the capture of the killer of a pregnant pathologist found beaten to death and possibly raped in her laboratory office at historic Bellevue Hospital.

Police Commissioner Benjamin Ward assigned a team of 50 detectives to the case, and officials declared the investigation the city's No. 1 police priority.Security guards alerted by the slain pathologist's husband found the body of Dr. Kathryn Hinnant, 34, about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, beaten to death in a secluded office where she was preparing a slide presentation for a lecture Monday, police said. Hinnant was on the New York University staff and had worked for about 11/2 years in the labs at the 252-year-old Bellevue, the nation's oldest hospital.
