SHARE EXERCISE PROGRAM OFFERED TO HELP PEOPLE WITH ARTHRITIS

Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 18, the Arthritis Foundation-Utah Chapter will offer a new exercise program for people with arthritis.

Designed specifically for people with the disease, PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise), uses gentle movements and activities as a method of increasing joint flexibility, range of motion and overall stamina.After completing the PACE series, participants will understand basic principles of exercise and joint protection, tips for managing stress and pain and how to make exercise a daily routine.

Conducted by trained personnel, PACE is open to anyone with arthritis. Two eight-week classes will begin Oct. 18 and meet twice weekly at separate locations. The first session will be at Western Rehabilitation Institute, 8074 S. 13th East from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The second class will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. at Cottonwood Hospital Wilkinson Building, 5770 S. 3rd East on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Pre-registration is necessary and enrollment is limited. A $15 materials fee is charged for registration; $10 for Arthritis Foundation members. Scholarships are available. For more information, call the Arthritis Foundation at 486-4993.
