An 11-year-old girl who once said she wanted to sing better than Barbra Streisand has been selected to star on Broadway in a sequel to the hit musical "Annie."
Danielle Findley of Lee's Summit, Mo., will play the lead role in "Annie 2," a $7 million musical opening in March. She beat out more than 400 girls who auditioned in New York, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, it was announced Tuesday in New York."This has been a lifelong dream for her," Danielle's mother, Brenda Lasater, said Tuesday. "When she was 4, she went to the Midland Theater (in Kansas City) and saw `Annie.' She said, `I want to be Annie someday."'
Danielle is described as highly motivated. Told once that she was a good singer, she replied, "I want to be better than Barbra Streisand."
The new production, subtitled "Miss Hannigan's Revenge," goes into rehearsal next month.
