SHARE EX-PRINCIPAL IN WOODS CROSS WINS U.S. AWARD

Garvin Carlile, Davis School District area director and former Woods Cross Elementary principal, was one of 60 elementary and middle school principals named "National Distinguished Principals" by U.S. Secretary of Education Lauro R. Cavazos and Samuel G. Sava, executive director of the National Association of Elementary School Principals.

The principals will be recognized by the Department of Education on Oct. 18 at an awards banquet in Washington, D.C., where each will receive an award certificate and an engraved school bell.The Education Department and NAESP initiated the National Distinguished Principals program in 1984 to recognize the vital role that principals play in shaping the character and quality of education. Pizza Hut, Inc. has been the corporate sponsor of the program since 1985.
