A loaded automatic machine gun was among more than 25 weapons seized by Metro Narcotic Strike Force and Salt Lake Police SWAT team officers during a Thursday night drug raid at a west-side residence.
Officers also seized about one gallon of a substance called crank oil (the next to last step in producing methamphetamine crystals) and several ounces of cocaine.Strike force Sgt. Scott Atkinson said a fully operational production lab was found in the basement of the house at 1218 S. Mission
Road in the Glendale area. Video cassette cases labeled "smoke case" and "crank case" contained marijuana, crack cocaine and methamphetamine prepackaged for sale.
Two men and two women were arrested at the house.
Atkinson said several loaded guns were found at various locations in the house. Several knives were also seized.
Cocaine and methamphetamine crystals were found on plates police believe were being used to cut and package the drugs. Scales for measuring the substances were also found.
Twelve members of the SWAT team executed a no-knock search warrant about 9:15 p.m. Seven members of the strike Force assisted. Representatives from the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms were also present.
Names of those arrested will be withheld until formal charges are filed.
Atkinson said about $3,000 in cash was found.
