Catherine Crier says she may not have a news background but she has pretty good judgment. Her last job - being a judge in Texas.

Crier will co-anchor Cable News Network's "The World Today" program that will go head-to-head with newscasts of the big three networks.A twice-elected district court judge, Crier will join Bernard Shaw on "The World Today," which premiers Monday.

Crier said Wednesday she underwent intensive training at CNN the past two weeks but acknowledged, "you obviously can't learn it all in two weeks or less. It's an on-going ongoing thing."
