The city of Miami will have a starring role in a film that is already being touted as the movie event of the next decade.

Paramount Pictures has announced that Miami - along with Rome, Milan and New York - will play host to Francis Ford Coppola's "Godfather III." Production on the thir movie in the saga of the Corleone family will begin in Italy on Nov. 15.Coppola and his band of superstars - Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Robert Duvall and Gene Hac,man - will shoot in and around downtown Miami and Miami Beach "sometime in late March or early April," said Don Levy, Parmount Pictures' directory of production.

"Godfather III," written by Mario Puzo, concerns the return of Sonny Corleone's illegitimate son (played by Miami native Nady Garcia), who threatens to destroy the family's business, which crime kingpin Michael Corleone (Pacino) has at long last legitimized.
