The Washington Temple visitors center was one of six significant religious sites on a landmark summer tour, sponsored by the Interfaith Conference of Metropolitian Washington.

In addition to the visitors center, participants in the tour visited five other religious sites. The purpose behind the tour was to provide participants with the opportunity to visit sacred buildings and learn more about the religious congregations that are housed in these structures, said the Rev. Clark Lobenstine, executive director for the conference.

According to the Rev. Lobenstine, the Interfaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington was organized for a dual purpose: to increase understanding among persons of different faiths, races and cultures and to address unitedly social and economic issues.
