SHARE TAX-ASSISTANCE GROUPS SEEK VOLUNTEERS TO HELP PREPARE RETURNS

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is looking for volunteers to help low-income people who cannot afford professional tax assistance to prepare their returns.

VITA, sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service, helps lower income, elderly, handicapped and non-English-speaking taxpayers, according to Luanne Blair, Taxpayer Education Coordinator for the IRS in Utah.Tax Counseling for the Elderly also needs volunteers. That program is sponsored by the American Association of Retired Persons in cooperation with the IRS.
