Steve Hill, an inspector with Reaveley Engineering, measures the pre-tensile elongations on the parking structure at the new Primary Children's Medical Center, which is scheduled to open in mid-February. The power was turned on Tuesday at the pediatric hospital, which is 88 percent complete. Almost all of the walls are up and 98 percent of the cabinet and millwork is completed in the hospital, located west of the University of Utah School of Medicine. The helipad, atop the building, is also finished, as is the kitchen, plus the painting and wall covering on the first and second floors. Two-thirds of the telephone system goes in this month, as will the carpet. The eight surgery suites in the hospital are 85 percent complete.
