Shonnie Taylor, the newest assistant manager at the new Dan's Foods Inc. store at 1350 S. Foothill Dr., says she loves her job and working with her 130 fellow employees at the store, but the best part of her day, she says, is helping customers.

"I love working with shoppers. In fact, during the two weeks I was working in the new store getting it ready for the grand opening Monday, Oct. 9, I had `customer withdrawal' because there were no shoppers in the store."A homemaker and mother of two teenage girls, Heather, 17, and Rachel, 16, both students at Skyline High School, Taylor was a busy Bonnetball girls softball coach in Millcreek from 1982 to 1988 while her girls were playing on the team.

Another hobby she and her husband, Lyle, and the children enjoy is boating, especially on Willard Bay.

Taylor grew up in Salt Lake City, graduated from Skyline High in 1966 and worked as a supervisor at Dee's drive-in restaurants for four years. She quit work while she had a family and then went to work at the NCO Club at Fort Douglas for two years until the facility closed.

She joined Dan's Foods in 1980 and was a checker eight months and then head checker eight years at two stores.

"I'm so proud of our new store. It has underground parking, an elevator, 4,400 square feet of store space and its all bright and new. Her responsibilities include keeping the shelves stocked with food, ordering everything the store sells and, her most interesting and rewarding job, she says, "keeping our customers happy."
