SHARE JURY SELECTION BEGINS IN TRIAL OF ROY MAN

Jury selection began Tuesday in the trial of a Roy man charged with theft by receiving in a case involving the defendant's wife, who was convicted of embezzling more than $400,000 from an Ogden management corporation.

Lee Garcia is charged with theft by receiving. If convicted by an eight-member jury on the second-degree felony charge, Garcia could be sentenced to serve from one to 15 years in prison.The trial is expected to last three days in the courtroom of 2nd District Judge Stanton Taylor.

Garcia's wife, Wendy Covington Garcia, last May entered a guilty plea to theft. She was sentenced to serve from one to 15 years in the state prison.

Wendy Garcia was a former bookkeeper at K&G Management Service Corp., which manages fast-food restaurants in northern Utah. She admitted to stealing more than $400,000 from the company.
