SHARE JURY CLEARS 2 LAWMEN OF KIDNAP CONSPIRACY

A jury found two Oklahoma lawmen innocent of charges they plotted to kidnap and torture a suspected drug dealer to obtain evidence on drug laboratories.

Jurors returned the verdicts Wednesday for Love County, Okla., Sheriff Wesley Liddell Jr. and his son-in-law, Roger Ray Hilton, a Marietta, Okla., police officer.Liddell, who suspended himself after his arrest by FBI agents on May 18, said he will return to work Thursday.

"I just voluntarily unsuspended myself," said Liddell, 47.

The officers were accused of conspiring to abduct Pearl "Sonny" Cornett and torture him to obtain evidence on drug laboratories in southern Oklahoma and northern Texas.
