Thirty-one Mountain Fuel Supply Co. employees are in San Francisco, assisting Pacific Gas & Electric Co. crews restore natural gas service to earthquake victims.

Louise Jacobsen, a Mountain Fuel spokesman, said 27 service technicians, three meter setters and one customer service foreman were sent to California at the request of PG&E."We estimate the group will be in San Francisco for about one week," Jacobsen said. "That could be extended if PG&E requests."

The technicians will primarily check residences and turn pilot lights back on, Jacobsen said. The meter setters will check outside connections to ensure that meters are not damaged and can be put back into use. The customer service foreman will assist in handling contacts from the public and scheduling work crews.
