Elder Dean L. Larsen of the Presidency of the Seventy officiated at the creation of a new stake in Mexico. The Acapulco Mexico Stake consists of the following units: the Progreso and Vista Alegre wards and the Cumbres, Costa Azul, Palmas, Renacimiento, and Zapata branches.

Elsewhere, stake presidencies were reorganized in Cadiz, Philippines; Gillette, Wyo.; Iquitos, Peru; Sandy, Utah; Quito, Ecuador; Schaumburg, Ill.; and Tuxtla, Mexico.SANDY UTAH CRESCENT NORTH STAKE: (Sept. 17, 1989) President - Garth Clyde Anderson, 38, educator, succeeding G. Counselors - John Charles McNary, 42, architect, former stake executive secretary, high councilor, bishop and counselor, married Rebecca Anne Lamb; Ronald William Ebert, 38, construction manager, former high councilor, bishop, elders quorum president's counselor and Scout leader, married Perri Ann Johnson.
