SHARE HATCH HONORED FOR HELPING THE CHILDREN

The National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions has named Utah Sen. Orrin G. Hatch "a friend of children and children's hospitals."

The award was presented to Hatch by Donald R. Poulter, administrator of Primary Children's Medical Center, at the general session of the National Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect on Monday.Poulter said, "Senator Hatch has been at the forefront in proposing and supporting many programs that benefit children: Child care, vaccine availability, reduction of drug costs, home health care, prevention of infant mortality, organ procurement network, tobacco education and limits, opposing pornography, resolution of Medicaid problems, organ transplantation."

The children's advocacy group praised the senator for "leadership in creating and supporting legislation which has benefited children and their families," and for helping to alleviate all manner of child abuse and neglect.
