A Salt Lake man accused of sexually abusing another man will be tried on the charge Monday before 4th District Judge Ray M. Harding.

The defendant, Michael Parmenter, pleaded guilty in 1986 to a charge of sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony, and has been on probation since then. Following a June 8 incident involving a 10-year-old girl, his probation was reinstated for another 18 months.The latest charge stems from an alleged occurrence of forcible sex abuse of a man June 24 while the two were being held in the Utah County Jail.

Parmenter, 34, is being held in the jail until he can be placed in Project Turn, a Department of Corrections sex-offender program.
