Most campgrounds on U.S. Forest Service land in Utah are open and available for hunters during the deer season.

Kathy Jo Pollock, spokeswoman for Wasatch-Cache National Forest, said that in all campgrounds except within Uinta National Forest, water systems and garbage pickups are not be available so fees will not be charged."Please pack out what you pack in," she said.

Also, any hunter using a three-wheeler or quad-runner should contact the Forest Service office that administers the area for current information about where the vehicles are banned. For further information, contact her at 524-5030.

Fire restrictions have been lifted in all national forests in Utah except in Uinta National Forest from Point of the Mountain in Utah County to the town of Nephi. No fires except in developed recreation sites where grills or fireplaces are provided, and no smoking outside, except in an areas that is clear of all combustible material for at least 3 feet all around.

Pollock gave this status report on campgrounds:

-Wasatch-Cache National Forest: all are open in the Evanston and Mountain View ranger districts; in Kamas Ranger District, the open campgrounds are Beaver Creek, Ledgefork, Lower Provo, Shady Dell, Soapstone, Taylors Fork and Yellow Pine, Lost Creek (10 units), Mirror Lake (22 units) and Trial Lake (11 units.) In the forest's Logan Ranger District, all campgrounds are open except Bridger; in the Ogden Ranger District, the open campgrounds are Botts, Hobble, Magpie, Monte Cristo and South Fork; in Salt Lake Ranger District, Albion Basin, Redman, and lower loops of the Spruces and Tanners Flat campgrounds.

-Ashley National Forest: in the Duchesne Ranger District, all open except Yellow Pine Campground; campgrounds open in the Flaming Gorge Ranger District are Browne Lake, Cedar Springs, Carmel, Deep Creek, Dripping Springs, Firehole, Greendale East and West, and Spirit Lake; all open on Roosevelt Ranger District; all open in the Vernal Ranger District except Lodgepole Campground.

-Dixie National Forest: all open except both campgrounds on the Powell Ranger District.

-Fishlake National Forest: all open except Oak Creek in the Fillmore Ranger District; all closed except Bowery in the Loa Ranger District; all open in the Richfield Ranger District and the Beaver Ranger District.

-Manti-LaSal National Forest: all campgrounds are closed on the Moab Ranger District except Warner Campground. Campgrounds on the other districts are open.

-Uinta National Forest: all campgrounds are open.
