A steering commission recently met to discuss reactivating the Payson Friends of the Library and to elect officers.
After meeting with librarian Linda Collard and library board president Connie Carrasco, the committee elected Kathy Christensen acting president and Ann Bown as secretary/treasurer.Barbara Arrington, a past president of the group, said the library needs community involvement to help coordinate additional funding and volunteer work.
In addition, the committee agreed to head a children's book drive throughout the city in conjunction with National Children's Book Week, Nov. 13-18. The group will invite residents to donate and bring to the library any used children's books, Christensen said.
