The fight over where to build a county minimum-security jail continues.

The City Council voted Wednesday to seek an outside opinion about whether or not the city should appeal a judge's ruling that they must allow the jail to be built at the Oxbow site near 3300 South and the Jordan River.Following a recommendation by South Salt Lake Attorney Clint Balmforth, the council authorized the city to hire an appellate attorney to study the case and determine what chances the city has to win an appeal.

"We need to see what our real possibilities are concerning the jail issue," said Councilman Randy Fitts.
