University of Florida basketball player Dwayne Schintzius and four former Gator athletes could be called to testify in a federal cocaine trial, a newspaper reported.
Schintzius, former basketball players Vernon Maxwell, Kenny McClary and Patrick Aaron and former football player Tommy Duhart may be called as government witnesses in the trial scheduled to begin Monday at U.S. District Court, the Jacksonville Times-Union reported today. The government is charging defendant Berry Bernardo Williams with operating a "party house" frequented by Gator athletes, said his attorney, L. Sanford Selvey of Tallahassee.
Selvey said the government is charging that Maxwell, now with the NBA's San Antonio Spurs, and former football player Lomas Brown purchased cocaine from Williams at the house.
