Police searched for witnesses Thursday to the apparent robbery and fatal shooting of Steve Moore, a former starting lineman for the New England Patriots, authorities said.
Moore, 29, was shot Wednesday night outside a Memphis convenience store.Moore, an offensive tackle for the Patriots from 1983 through 1987, made several purchases at the convenience store and apparently was shot while returning to his car, police said.

The store clerk told police he heard what he thought was a car backfire and then Moore stumbled back into the business saying he had been robbed.
