Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday for Leon Brown, 86, former Salt Lake florist, who died

Oct. 23, 1989, of natural causes in a Salt Lake nursing home.The rites will be held in the 26th LDS Ward chapel, 700 S. 1000 West. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 S. Second East, and at the church from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was owner-president of Leon Brown Floral Co. from 1915 to 1983.

After graduating from West High School in 1922 he entered the University of Utah, where he received a two-year medical certificate and a degree in civil engineering.

Later, he joined the flower business with his brothers and eventually bought them out..

Mr. Brown was a lifetime member of the Utah Poetry Society, a former member of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, Utah Nurserymen and Utah Florist Associations and was a high priest in the 26th Ward, Pioneer Stake, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He donated rose arrangements for Utah Symphony concerts, and his firm sponsored the Sunday morning Sounds of Music with Dr. Rex Campbell as host for 20 years on KSL Radio.
