Donald L. Snyder has been named to replace W. Cris Lewis as head of the economics department at Utah State University.

Dean Doyle J. Matthews of the College of Agriculture and Dean David B. Stephens of the College of Business announced the appointment. The two colleges jointly administer the department.Lewis continues as a professor in the department.

Snyder is an associate professor in the department and is also a USU Extension economist. He teaches resource economics and managerial economics. His extension work involves marketing. He has been at USU since 1984.

He received bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Wyoming and a doctorate from USU. He has also taught at Brigham Young University.

Snyder is a member of the American Economic Association, the American Agricultural Economic Association and the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists.
