A 19-year-old man who escaped from a 3rd District courtroom Friday is back in jail.

Darrell Wayne Reese was taken into custody by the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department about 6 p.m. Saturday after deputies acted on an anonymous tip.Reese, who was awaiting sentencing on a misdemeanor assault when he escaped by freeing one hand from the handcuffs and running down a flight of stairs, was found hiding under a bed in a rental property at 3108 South 1000 East, said Lt. Lee Smith.

An unidentified man at the residence told deputies that he did not know Reese or anything about his whereabouts, but consented to a search of the home.

Reese "offered no resistance" but had to be pulled out from under the bed where he was hiding.
