A 16-year-old junior broke a national high school record Saturday by kicking seven field goals in one game.

Kevin Knope of Greece Olympia High School in suburban Rochester kicked field goals of 30, 25, 30, 49, 20, 28 and 24 yards in a 41-0 win over cross-town rival Greece Arcadia. The 1989 National High School Record Book, published by the National Federation of State High School Associations, lists 12 players who kicked five field goals in a single game. Among those 12 are Luis Zendejas and John Lee, who later played in the NFL.

"I told (Knope) after our special team drills that this would be a great day to get five." Olympia Coach George Giordano said. "He looked at me and said, `Let's go for seven."'

Giordano acknowledged he used the game to get his kicker into the national record book.
