The Foreign Ministry confirmed authorities are questioning six American medical missionaries, a Briton and a South African captured last week after entering the country illegally from Malawi, the state-run news agency AIM said Monday.

The news agency identified the Briton as Peter Hammond, a resident of South Africa, and said he was "actively involved in destabilization against the independent states of the region" and a staunch supporter of right-wing Mozambican guerrillas.
