A South Salt Lake man died of an apparent heart attack while deer hunting Saturday in Millard County, officials said.

James C. Edwards, 32, was pronounced dead at the Fillmore Community Medical Center before noon Saturday, Millard County sheriff's officials said.Edwards was reportedly stricken about 10 a.m. while hunting in Kanosh Canyon, 12 miles south of Fillmore, said a report filed by Deputy Scott Corry. Edwards was hunting with a companion.

The companion and a passerby administered cardio-pulmonary resuscitation to Edwards until an ambulance arrived, the report said.

The state medical examiner was to perform an autopsy, the sheriff's office statement said.
