A man pulled a gun on his two companions during an altercation aboard a Utah Transit Authority bus going through Bountiful Friday afternoon and tried to shoot one of them, Bountiful Police reported.

Lt. Don Taylor said the three men, who live in transient shelters in Salt Lake City and Ogden, were riding from an Ogden medical clinic back to Salt Lake City when the incident occurred at 4:30 p.m. Friday on Main Street near 200 North.Police said one man pulled a .22-caliber revolver and tried to shoot his friend, identified as Bennie Campbell, 36, of Ogden. Campbell and another man, Howard W. French of Salt Lake City wrestled the gun away from the man and turned it over to the bus driver, who called police, Taylor said.

William F. Shaw, 26, of Salt Lake City was booked into the Davis County Jail Friday afternoon for investigation of attempted criminal homicide, according to the Davis County sheriff's office.
