Reed T. Searle has been named general manager of the Intermountain Power Agency, owner of the Intermountain Power Project near Delta, according to Reece D.
Nielsen, chairman of the board of directors.Searle formerly was manager of government relations for the Intermountain Consumer Power Agency, a sister organization of IPA, from 1980 to 1983. He has been chief of staff for Gov. Norm Bangerter, Utah Department of Community and Economic Development executive director and director of the Utah Energy Office.
He is a member of the University of Utah Institutional Council, the Utah Energy Conservation and Development Council, the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and the Utah Arts Festival. He has been chairman of the Utah Housing Finance Agency and a a member of the Four Corners Regional Commission.
IPA was formed in 1977 by 23 municipalities involved in IPP. The agency financed the $5 billion project by issuing municipal bonds. Construction of the 1,600-megawatt facility was completed in 1987.
