Three deer hunters were found by search and rescue teams early Monday, huddled around a fire in the foothills above Bountiful, according to the Davis County sheriff's office.
The three - Matt Reese, Gerald Tippetts and Aaron Wheeler, all of Bountiful - were reported missing about 10 p.m. Sunday.Search and rescue teams from the sheriff's department and Bountiful were called out and located the hunters' vehicle around midnight in Ward Canyon, in southern Davis County, the sheriff's department said.
Because of the cold weather and rough terrain, the searchers called in Lifeflight air ambulance and the three men were spotted around their campfire about 4 a.m., the sheriff's department reported.
All three were brought out by the rescue teams and taken to Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, where they were examined, determined to be in good shape and discharged, according to the sheriff's department.
It was the second time search units were called out over the weekend to find a lost hunter.
A 16-year-old Farmington boy, Gerald Wright, was separated from his hunting party Friday night in Steed Canyon, above Centerville, in a snowstorm. Searchers found him about 3 a.m. Saturday, suffering from exposure and hypothermia.
Wright was also treated at Lakeview and discharged, according to the hospital.
