A chimney fire damaged the attic of a home in West Point early Monday but caused no injuries, according to the Clearfield Fire Department, which provides fire protection to the small city.

The fire, at the home of Jim Thompson, 1551 W. 265 North, was reported about 4 a.m. Firefighters responded and extinguished the blaze within 10 minutes, department officials said.The fire was confined to the attic and area around the chimney.Firefighters had to pull down the ceiling in the home's living room and kitchen to get at the blaze, firefighters said.
