The city of Farmington has awarded a conditional, $418,000 contract for construction of a new fire and police station to Glendon Corp., Salt Lake City.

The contract is contingent upon Glendon's agreement with a list of 20 cost-cutting features that would save the city some $42,000, city manager Max Forbush said.Residents voted in July to allow the city to issue up to $225,000 in general obligation bonds to help pay for the construction.

The cost-cutting items include elimination of air conditioning units, thermostats and a retaining wall along the east and south property lines, and having the city and firefighters perform concrete work for the driveway and sidewalk.
